Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
This is such a beautiful verse. It declares that God IS our strength, our protection, our motivation and our peace. In Him we are filled with joy to the extent that we can’t help but to sing out to His glory.
Why is it then so many Christians “live” in the negative. What I mean is, instead of living in the joy of the Lord, they live in the dispar of sadness or the agony of past wrongs, or any number of emotions that are opposite of the joy that we have through our heavenly Father. The song that should be singing from hearts and mouths of the glory of God, is silenced because of the focus on the troubles or circumstances is over shadowing the trust of God.
When we become self focused, self absorbed, we start to tell ourselves and others how bad our life is. Some people even seem to wear their negatives like a badge of honor or to appear as a martyr to life, giving out the message of “look how bad my life is” or “you think you have problems, look at me” and some even go so far at to “wear” other people’s issues, careing more about being able to once again the center of very negative attention.
In some cases we are so caught up in the negative of life that we cannot see the blessings and when we don’t recognize the blessings in our life, we could be doubting our own trust in God and if we are not trusting, can we recognize the source of joy we should have through Him.
So when we go back to the beautiful scripture: “Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.”, we see the way to restore our joy. Walk away from negative, don’t it become your god. Yes, negitive and become such a focus in a life, it becomes the god of it. Stop it!
When we trust in God, our Father, it allows all the joy that is already in our lives to flow. God gives us strength, He protects us, He gives us joy but He also gives us free will to choose our thoughts. We have the ability to recognize that God is bigger than our negatives or we have the ability to let the disappointments and negatives of our life control us and bind us from having the joy God wants us to experience. So trust in God with all your heart, let him help you, let Him give you strength, let Him protect you, let your heart be filled with joy, sing praises and songs to Him and conquer the spirit of negativity from your life.
